Uruguay's London 2012 provisional squad

Oscar Washington Tabarez has named a 32-man provisional squad for the London 2012 Olympics which features over-aged players Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani, Egidio Arevalo Rios and Fernando Muslera.

Only three over-23 players are permitted for the tournament, meaning one of those four will unfortunately be missing out.

It will be interesting to see who Tabarez chooses to sit out. A good goalkeeper is always needed if you are to do well in a major tournament, and Fernando Muslera is exactly that.

Egidio Arevalo Rios has been one of Uruguay's best players in the past two years and his experience in the midfield and ability to break down play will be invaluable to the squad.

Attackers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani can be two of the most lethal strikers in the world on their day and would undoubtedly wreak havoc in any defence they come up against at the Olympics.

Other players with international experience in the squad are Sebastian Coates, who scored his first goal for the senior national team on Sunday against Peru, along with Abel Hernandez, Gaston Ramirez and Nicolas Lodeiro.

The list must be cut back to 18 by Tabarez at least three weeks before the start of the Olympics, the last day being July 6.

The full 32-man squad is listed below:

  1. Suarez. Whether it is in the national team or Liverpool. In his current state. All found their own partner. I love his sound footing. He was tenacious. I appreciate him. He also has a football shirt.
