Larrionda named second-best referee of 21st century
The 43-year-old recently retired from refereeing after an illustrious career in which he officiated a total of 8 World Cup matches (4 in 2006 and 4 in 2010) as well as a number of Copa Libertadores games.
However he is arguably most well known for the controversial moment at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where he missed Frank Lampard's goal against Germany.
Larrionda finished runner-up behind German referee Markus Merk, with Colombian referee Oscar Ruiz in third place.
The highest placed English Premier League referee was Howard Webb, who was ranked the 10th best.
